Rev. Patricia Bonilla.

Patricia Bonilla es hija de migrantes mexicanos. Al crecer bilingüe y bicultural, experimentó los desafíos y las posibilidades creativas de navegar espacios multilingües y multiétnicos. Bonilla es candidata a doctorado en el Seminario Teológico Evangélico Garrett en Evanston, Illinois, en el área de educación cristiana y desarrollo congregacional. Es ministra ordenada en la Iglesia Metodista Unida y ha trabajado en el ministerio congregacional desde 2005, así como en el desarrollo comunitario y juvenil, centrándose en fomentar espacios educativos creativos y liberadores para la juventud latinx.

Los intereses de investigación de Bonilla ponen en diálogo y practican las pedagogías críticas, la teoría decolonial y la educación religiosa con especial atención al compromiso con las epistemologías del Sur y las ecologías pluriversales del conocimiento. Le interesa cómo educar de manera integral. Como teóloga práctica, es muy consciente de las implicaciones políticas, epistemológicas y culturales de la educación, específicamente de la educación para la liberación y la concientización.

Fernando Cascante.

Fernando Cascante es consultor del Instituto Calvino de Adoración Cristiana. Además de apoyar programas de becas, trabaja en iniciativas de adoración y predicación, liderazgo y capacitación intercultural, y en el desarrollo de recursos. Nacido en Costa Rica, pastoreó iglesias mientras enseñaba en el Seminario Bíblico Latinoamericano y en la Universidad de Costa Rica, instituciones donde también estudió teología y ciencias de la educación, respectivamente. También enseñó durante 11 años en  Union Theological Seminary-Presbyterian School of Christian Education (PSCE) en Virginia. Antes de unirse a CICW, Fernando fue líder de la Asociación para la Educación Teológica Hispana (AETH) durante casi 12 años. Tiene títulos de maestría y doctorado en educación de PSCE.

Rev. Patricia Bonilla.

Patricia Bonilla is the daughter of Mexican migrants. Growing up bilingual and bicultural, she experienced the challenges as well as creative possibilities of navigating multilingual and multiethnic spaces. Bonilla is a doctoral candidate at Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois in the area of Christian education and congregational development. She is an ordained minister in the United Methodist Church and has worked in congregational ministry since 2005 as well as community and youth development, focusing on fostering creative and liberatory educational spaces for Latinx youth. 

Bonilla’s research interests bring into dialogue and practice critical pedagogies, decolonial theory, and religious education with special attention to engaging with epistemologies of the South and pluriversal ecologies of knowledge. She is interested in the how to of educating holistically. As a practical theologian she is acutely aware of the political, epistemological and cultural implications of education, specifically educating toward liberation and concientization.

Fernando Cascante.

Fernando Cascante is a senior consultant with the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship. In addition to supporting grants programs, he works on worship and preaching initiatives, leadership and intercultural training, and resource development. Born in Costa Rica, he pastored churches while teaching at the Latin American Biblical Seminary and the University of Costa Rica, institutions where he also studied theology and educational sciences respectively. He also taught for 11 years at Union Theological Seminary–Presbyterian School of Christian Education (PSCE) in Virginia. Before joining CICW, Fernando was a leader of the Association for Hispanic Theological Education (AETH) for almost 12 years. He has MA and EdD degrees from PSCE.
